ADS-B

As an active member of the Aircraft Electronics Association, Heritage Aviation keeps current with industry regulations while details of the Technical Standardization Order are still being worked out.

Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast will be a major component of the Next Generation Air Traffic Management System (NextGen). Aircraft operating in airspace currently requiring Mode C or Mode S transponders must equip with ADS-B Out by Jan 1, 2020 in the United States.

The components required will be a TSO’d WAAS/GPS source (which will provide position, vector, altitude, and velocity data) and one of two devices to broadcast the data (1090 ES- an “extended squitter” Mode S transponder, or a 978MHz UAT- Universal Access Transceiver).

In addition to the required ADS-B Out, aircraft equipped for ADS-B In will receive Traffic and Weather data.
